Cory L. Zajdel, Esq., serves as principal attorney at Z Law, LLC and specializes in complex litigation, primarily representing consumers. Mr. Zajdel was the first attorney in Maryland to file a class action lawsuit against Dimensions Health Corporation in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County on behalf of a class of patients treated by “Dr. Akoda.”
Mr. Zajdel has helped consumers recover more than $100 million since 2009 in class actions representing Maryland residents. For example, in two recent cases, Mr. Zajdel reached settlements valued at more than $40 million and $30 million in class actions representing Maryland consumers against national car finance companies that allegedly repossessed vehicles without providing adequate notices under Maryland law.
Mr. Zajdel received his highest honor when he appeared before the United States Supreme Court in April 2017 representing consumers that were accusing a national bank of unlawful debt collection practices. Mr. Zajdel also regularly appears in appellate courts asserting and defending claims on behalf of individuals against large corporations. Mr. Zajdel’s enormous success representing consumers has been well documented in no less than ten court opinions.
Mr. Zajdel is proud of his pro bono representation of Maryland consumers being sued by debt collectors and vehicle finance companies. Without any charge to consumers, Mr. Zajdel has successfully eliminated debts for individuals that would have otherwise been stuck paying on judgments and having their wages garnished for years.
Mr. Zajdel is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Maryland, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits, the United States Court of Federal Claims and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Zajdel graduated cum laude from the Catholic University of America School of Law where he was a staff member of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. Mr. Zajdel is also a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park from the Smith School of Business with a degree in Marketing.
